Doorway on Gloucester Street, Boston, MA
Peabody and Stearns, architect(s). From the American Architect and Building News, April 21, 1888. 13.25 by 8.75 inches. VG+.
This is an original silver gelatine print on fiber based paper. This picture is extremely hard to find. The American Architect and Building News had a very small circulation during this time and these original gelatine prints only appeared in a very limited number of issues that were distributed to a few prominent architects. This is from the architect Bruce Price's collection. Has a mat border and foam core backing (not attached to the picture). Extraordinary detail in this early photographic print. Shrink wrapped. Colored by a process called "Heliochrome."
